Yes, one of the girls that got pregnant in my high school was one of my very best friends! It totally blew me away. She carried the baby almost to the end of the school year and I remember many mornings seeing her head off to the ladies room with morning sickness. It was a hard time back then, but not now at all. As far as sparing embarrassment within one's family - when you decide to run for office your life becomes an open book. You either take the heat or get out of the kitchen.
