Is he a large, strong, youngish dog? Maybe he jumped - if he found himself a higher launch pad in the yard?
That IS weird...

He's 8 and a half, about 55 pounds, one of my best pullers. There's nothing near the fence though and it's over seven feet high.
I think I found the escape route. Chum showed me a spot where he could fit his head through. I was watching or I think he would have got out too It's just one broken tine in the wire but that fence is made from concrete underlay wire so it's got bigger hole in it. It would have been a tight squeeze for Franklin but all the Fireweed and grass is flat right at that spot, on the outside of the fence! Fortunately, it was an easy repair!
Still doesn't explain why only he left and how he got to the front though!

If Franky got out through the hole Chum pointed out ...
Would he have been completely outside ALL the fences?
Could someone have found him and escorted him through the OUTER drive-in gate;
then closed him in the parking area as they left and closed the outer gate?
Or did he swipe the Gate Key from under the door mat?

yup, he would have been completely outside all the fences.
I have trouble picturing Franklin letting someone he didn't know catch him, but it's possible. It does look like he dug under the man gate. If he could get through that hole in the fence, he could wiggle under there. They are both pretty small spaces!
