I hate being wet! I do most of the work taking care of our pool, but in the last 3 years have maybe be in the water for a total of an hour. And that's stretching it.

Well it depends... I don't really like doing it a lot but if I'm at the beach I'll be there all day! I don't necessarily like swimming but I love floating around on a raft or just wading
Besides, it's too much work for me to "get ready" to swim, gotta make sure you shave and all that fun stuff... and I HATE shaving![]()
I love to swim! Just not in the ocean! lol I am terribly afraid of the ocean and all the creatures in the ocean.... Weird, I know. Lakes I don't mind, though!![]()

Me too! I love to swim!!! I was on the Watauga Swim Team, and it only took half a month for me to move up! I was in a Swim Meet, and I still just love to swim during hot days in the summer! My dog hates the water, and I do not know what his problem is.![]()
I like swimming, and not just in summer! I swim for the school team sometimes - I can do races but mostly I go for the endurance tests. I can maintain a fairly good front crawl for a mile or so. It's odd, because if I ran that distance, I'd exhaust myself! I think it's probably because I have more upper body strength than leg strength thanks to horse-riding. One day, I'd like to swim the Channel for charity, like David Walliams did!![]()
I love water. I love all kinds of swimming except for lap swimming. I took aquatics for my gym class one semester in high school, and we learned how to SCUBA. I really want to get my open water cert so I can dive outside the pool! When I was little, I practiced treading water with only my legs because I saw the dolphin and whale trainers at Sea World doing it and waving with their hands. I wanted to be a dolphin or orca trainer for a very long time.

It's funny how different riders turn out in different ways. One of my friends is like you - she's a brilliant runner thanks to her leg strength from riding. Maybe just the different ways people naturally sit on the horse causes them to become strong in certain areas. In dressage I don't use my legs for too much other than squeezing and keeping still, but other riders that jump more than I do I understand use them a lot more. I wouldn't say my strength is in my arms though, it's probably more in my shoulders and back.
That's awesome! I would love to learn how to scuba dive.Originally Posted by Suki Wingy
