Chris, I'm glad you're safe. It's simply horrendous, isn't it! I've contacted some people in the areas affected, including John's family, but haven't heard back from them.

Glad you are OK Chris, Maggie is in Gloucestershire, isn't she? They didn't mention Stroud on the news. Hope she is OK.

I hadn't seen that collapsed road! I saw a couple rescued on the news tonight from Tewkesbury along with their dog, Henry. He seemed to take it all in his stride.

The big worry tonight for a lot of people in that area is that a water treatment works has been breached, and drinking water will not be fresh.

Randi, yes, I have seen the bbc videos. It is all so awful and more to come as the rain continues.

Karen, yes, I read about those poor people in Tewkesbury, they only have drinking water for today, and that day is nearly over.

It's getting worse in the Oxford area, water is still rising and will peak tomorrow morning there. They're running out of sand bags too. I'm of course interested in news from this area, as John's sister and BIL live there.

I found a site with a link to an Oxford radio station, have been listening to that for the past hour.

This is some of the latest news from BBC.

Oxfordshire has been particularly badly hit with hundreds of homes flooded over the weekend leaving thousands of people without power.

The River Thames is expected to burst its banks later and some homes in Oxford have already been evacuated.

Meanwhile, Standlake, Newbridge and Stanton Harcourt are reportedly under water with homes now being evacuated.

We are lucky here; we are having rain everyday too, but not really hloads of water. Thank goodness

What a disaster..!

I cannot drink tap water! Im out of money too and I need to boil every drink I want so buying water really isn't an option. The boiled water also has a weird taste to it.

The shopping centre I have my shop in got flooded quite badly, the tiles from the ceiling were falling in from the weight of the rain, Im so grateful my shop is on top of a slope because we missed alot of it.


I feel so bad for the people Im seeing on the news, Its so bad, I never thought it would happen as bad as it is.

I've heard from John's family (they're in Oxfordshire) - and are OK. Part of their village was flooded, but luckily, they're in the other end.

However, it's a disaster over there! They're expecting the Thames to overflow down by the Henley/Reading area this afternoon.
