pill taking

Mounds Pet store sells a "pill giver" for $1.95. Shaped like a syringe with little pill grippers on one end and a plunger on the other. Wrap the cat in a towel, firmly grasp the back of their head, gently place the pill gripper in their mouth and push on the plunger. It pushes the pill far enough down the throat to force swallowing. No foaming and once the cat has shaken off the experience, she was good to go. Sounds impossible, but worked well with myself and my husband and our cat Bushes.

The best way to pill a cat is to put the pill as far back in his throat as possible, then blow in his nose and rub his throat. That will trigger him to swallow.

The pill giver is the next best thing.

I bend my cats' head back really far, then drop the pill in the back of the throat. Then I rub the throat. It works almost every time, even w/Puddy.
