Raven, I'd like to reach in and love on you! Tasha and Tommy, also. Your mouth looks to me like it's healing. I'm glad you don't need pain medicine anymore. It's Wednesday afternoon, heading toward Friday, re-check day. I hope you get a good report from the doctor. Could you please ask your mom to give you this, from me? - hug I will light a new virtual candle for you.

    Looking BETTER!

For so many days I was not sure if that bit of swelling and reddened tissue on the edge of the wound margin would begin to grow and look cancerous (the way it happened after her first surgery) or if it would go down and improve. I felt it would probably happen one way or another this week, so I have been watching it like a hawk with my heart hammering every time I looked. Well yesterday it finally seemed to turn a corner.. for the better! I am feeling more (cautiously) optimistic finally. If the vet is pleased with tomorrow's check I will feel even better. I will attach a photo from April 30 (Monday) when it was reddened and more swollen and I was so worried about it, and then the shots I got yesterday where it is definitely improved! The 'stuff' in the wound are the sutures dissolving and losing their color, it looks a bit like hair or plastic stuck there but it is the sutures dissolving. Feeling so much more hopeful now!

Oh, it looks great!! Way to go Raven (and Jessica)!! I knew you could do it. I can't wait to hear what the doctor says tomorrow. I will keep hoping for a good review.
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

I have not been able to get on here for a bit, I am so thrilled to see how well she is doing!!!! Raven just looks beautiful, she looks so happy and it looks to me like her mouth is healing great and so far knock on wood no sign of anything growing back. I will continue my prayers and positive thoughts. You should be proud of yourself as well, you are doing a great job with her Mom.!!!!

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.

How I wish I could hold you near.
Turn back time to make it so.

    Recheck #2!

We are back from Raven's second recheck! Dr. Nielson always greets her as "Happy Raven" . He concurs with my opinion that so far, it is looking good! He still cautioned we need to give a bit more time before we for sure say it is all gone and not coming back, but he feels very optimistic!

I mentioned the reddened/swelling I saw a few days ago that had worried me. He explained that post-surgery, especially in the mouth, it takes awhile for the blood supply to return to the area and then it looks really red like that for a bit. That is why in a way it came to look worse than her first couple days home. He said the next phase will be the dead tissues sloughing off, so it still may change in appearance for awhile yet.

Her next recheck is next Friday morning again. He always tells her he loves her before we leave . So that is where we are at!

Kay, oh yes, Raven had to tell me again! I'll be shooting you a PM in a bit .

Oh, Raven! I think it's so sweet that your doctor calls you Happy Raven and tells you he loves you! Please ask your mom to thank him for me, because he is looking after you so wonderfully! 2 rechecks down, hope it will continue to heal with no problems. *HUGS* to you and your dog-siblings, sweet girl!
