That's not a very nice thing to say, IMO. LOTS of pets don't "run to you" when you call ... fish, many birds, most reptiles ... in fact, one the only species of pet that consistently comes when called, as a rule, is a dog. Does that make all the others "strange" pets? I find that to be quite a narrow critera.

We used to hold our tarantula all the time. Once she got used to us, if we put our hand in her cage, she would come over and climb up. She liked the warmth of our hands. She never, ever attempted to bite. I wasn't actually aware that rosy tarantulas could even bite a human. ?? They do, however, "throw hairs" when startled. They throw the little hairs on their bodies, much like a porcupine does. It is a defense mechanism. It's not painful ... but it DOES itch a LOT. It took me a long time to get up the nerve to hold her, because she was so BIG. But once I got over it, I found her to be very sweet.
"We give dogs the time we can spare, the space we can spare and the love we can spare. And in return, dogs give us their all. It's the best deal man has ever made" - M. Facklam

"We are raised to honor all the wrong explorers and discoverers - thieves planting flags, murderers carrying crosses. Let us at last praise the colonizers of dreams."- P.S. Beagle

"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, A light from the shadows shall spring; Renewed shall be blade that was broken, The crownless again shall be king." - J.R.R. Tolkien

    Thanks,

Oh ya, they can bite! Have you seen the size of their chompers Their bites/venoms cannot kill a human, unless your alergic. But you can have interesting reactions.. Crazy swelling, lots of pain, numbness, nerve issues, the shakes... but its all tempory, well unless your allergic then it can be deadly just like a bee sting.

She can throw her hairs? I guess she must like me cause shes never done that.

I'm glad she's okay! A friend of mine has a lot of spiders and other types of arachnids as pets.

glad she's ok. I know I got upset when a Spider that techniacly was not even a pet died lol I am generaly terrified of spiders but this one had made a web above my headboard, and she lived there, most spiders skitter all over and thats what frightens me, but this one never left her web when I was there. she would sit on top of her web and watch me, and if I needed to reach for my alarm clock she would skitter behind the headboard so I didnt have to worry about her, and come back out and watch me when I was done. she lived there for months, I grew attached to having my little spider "friend" there

Well then wouldn't the same apply to fish? My fish never came when I called it. Some people like spiders. Don't judge. :/
