Nice pics. Frankie is lovely!
We have tons of coyotes around here. I hear them yipping quite often at night.

We really did go hiking last week, but I forgot my camera. So here's a few more than normal this week to make up for it. Yesterday we hit 2 of 3 peaks at the local trails near us. Was just over 8 miles and we had a blast.
At the top of Stanley Peak:
Smelling the wild flower:
Tasting the wild flower![]()

Started down the trail passing an old water tower:
Then hiked over to the other peak. If you look way off there's the old water tower that sits below Stanley Peak (The peak is the highest point in the picture and the water tower is below it to the right):
We did some bouldering while on the second peak. Discovered that a 6' leash simply isn't long enough to climb boulders with:

Frankie did great, but I wasn't surprised. When she was a puppy I use to take her to work with me and she would follow me over all the pallets and stock.
That's all until next week. I really need to find a new harness as this one rubs weird and doesn't stay in place even when properly adjusted. I guess the search is on, so any links or ideas let me know.![]()
Nice pictures and an equally nice view.
I love Fenway, JoJo, Olivia and Nonnie!
I just saw this thread for the first time, so I "went on several hikes with you" both today! What wonderful country where you live!
Looks like you have 2 different harnesses? The first pictures show a black one, the last hike shows a red one. You don't like either one?
I like the two step harness from Pet Edge, that is what I bought for Sugar. Here is the link to their harnesses:

I bought the first kind on this long list. Sugar is a much different type of dog from Frankie, so what works for us may not work for you.

Thanks for the link, Freedom. Looks like they have quite a few and I'll browse through them.Originally Posted by Freedom
The black and grey one is a no pull harness and it works great. I do use that one when we're walking around town or in crowded areas, like the lake loop, but it acts as a no pull by putting pressure on pressure points when the dog pulls. When hiking I really don't mind her pulling, especially when we're climbing over rocks.Originally Posted by Freedom
The red one is her basic harness and this is the one that I don't like. It just refuses to stay centered on her back in the terrain that we're on and when it slides slightly off it rubs under her legs.
I'll see if PetEdge has anything that might fit her better.
What a great place to go hiking. It looks like Frankie really likes it, too.![]()
Gorgeous photos! I think this is the best photo of Frankie I have seen.![]()
She is such a beautiful dog, I love her coloring. That area is really pretty too, it looks similar to where I hike to the "G" in the summer. Have you tried a rectractable tape lead? I use one of those for Nebo when hiking so he can have more freedom (to climb up boulders too), I'm not a fan of the regular retractables but I like the tape ones. I love Nebo's leather harness, I bought it in Florida...maybe you could find one at some local pet store or online, it stays on very well and doesn't shift around or rub.
