I guess I could mention it again,

Feline Rebound Liquid diet. RX from the vet.


For long term sustainance.

I pray for your strength for her, that you find the patience, now that she needs you most.

You will be able to get past this. Do what you have to do, no matter what she thinks of you, she will forgive when she feels better.

Praying for good results for the other test.

Oh sweet Nakita I want you better soon. I am really hoping that it isn't that horrible disease...... I am going to go and see what FIP is?????? I don't think I understand this disease my prayers and thoughts are with you during your difficult time..(((HUGS)))

Kass, I'm so sorry to hear that Nakita is still very sick. I've also heard that FIP tests are inconclusive and that the vaccine for this horrible disease isn't proven to keep your cat from getting this disease. Lots more prayers and positive thoughts are being sent to both you and Nakita.

I'll have to ask my vet about that. Not sure which is better for now, the canned a/d or Feline Rebound? I know Nakita hates fish so not sure how she would accept the Feline Rebound since it has a Salmon flavour.

I would not trust any FIP test.

I know, everything I read tells me it's inconclusive. I'll be speaking to the vet soon so I'll find out why an FIP test is even a consideration at this point.


Something better change soon because Nakita's not looking like she can take much more.

Oh gosh, poor Nakita! I really really hope and pray you can find something that she'll eat. You may have already tried it, but have you tried the high calorie wet foods (non-fish flavor) - fancy feast, whiskas, basically any regular store bought wet food.

You're vet probably also already tried Diazepam (anti-anxiety medication that also stimulates the appetite), but if not...may be worth asking about.

That's a bummer she's so picky with her food. Even the kitten formulas would be good to get calories into her. What about pedialyte?

Poor Nikita...
I've been looking all over the web for her treats... seems there are dog treats by OMH, but there just aren't any cat ones. They have a new line of cat products out called Wellness, not sure if there are treats for kitties there, but there are dog ones, and they have chicken, and maybe in the little pieces would be ok for Nakita?? There was also Halo brand that used only real meat, and it was freezedried chicken. Supposed to be nutritional and very good for kitties. I'll keep looking though... I'm a research librarian (middle school), so this is right up my alley!! If it can be found online, I'll find it for you!

Could a pharmacist flavor the Rebound with some other flavor, to cover up the salmon? Like malt? Some cats really like malt.

A/D + Nutrical is a good slurry. But, I don't think it's meant for long term (years) use. I know you can give it for weeks, I gave it to Malfi for 6 weeks.

I am so sorry you are going through this, but please don't be discouraged.
I felt the same way when old Malfi was living in a cat bag for 6 weeks.

Oh gosh Kass, I'm sorry to hear she's not doing well again I can't imagine how hard this is for both of you.

It's not looking good and we're just taking it day by day right now. She needs to go through more tests, because her last tests show low albumin and still anemic....not a good sign. And right now she's still too weak, especially if the test involve more anaesthetic...I don't think she can handle that right now.

I have the option to go to a specialist right now and I've already left a message with him. I'm still force feeding, but she's showing no interest and is depressed. Once I hear back from the specialist I'll see where to go from here.

As you can imagine, I'm beside myself and not sure what will happen in the next couple of days. God, she's only 4 years old and I'm not ready for her to leave. My emotions are everywhere.

I can understand how you feel.
Cats can't cope well with not eating- they really need their food. Even with kidney kitties like Filou it's better they eat too much protein than too little and we always watch him carefully as he is not supposed to lose weight.

I am so sorry for you and Nakita. It would be time for a miracle and we'll keep fingers crossed for that.
