Dewclaws are painful, and can rip. The only one of mine that has them is Femka but she was whelped in the Netherlands, and they do not change the dog in appearance. I imported a shepherd once from Germany that had them. He caught them all the time, and they didnt stick out but laid flat mostly like your dog does.
They can stitch the skin under it and might choose to do so. They can not be removed without major operation as they dew claw bone attaches to leg about 2 months old. Most breeders remove this dew claws at 3 days old. Some for appearance sake, but more so for safety reasons.
Keep us posted- I am sorry she got hurt. Let us know what the vet says they can do. If the claw is not attached to the leg ( rare but can happen) they can take it off. But not if the bone is attached to the leg bone..
