I've never had a problem with any store denying my signature to his card. Many stores have said to sign my OWN name, not my dad's - which I've always done. If I went to a store to purchase something, and got stopped, I would be really upset. I understand that it's for the card owner's security, but PLEASE! He's my FATHER who gave me PERMISSION to use it.
but not everyone knows that -
what about the case of a husband and wife divorce (just by looking at the name they can't tell its your father) and the wife took the card to run up as many charges as possible before it was closed....
    just a thought

Thanks for the head's up Staci. I would never have thought to double check my card in a restaurant, but yes, it could easily be switched. I have heard about people in check-out lines photographing credit cards before. All they really need are your numbers - someone could charge items without a physical card by calling in phone orders. No one would know that person wasn't you.

Most online merchants I deal with require the access code on the back of the card as well as the card number itself.

I would never allow anyone to use my charge card (That's why we have two on the same account, one for me, one for LOH), and I would be highly irritated if a store did not ask to see ID when using my card.
