Everyone should be treated like a dog!!
adopting a puppy from a shelter or a rescue organization is a fine thing to do.

There is also nothing wrong with buying from a responsible breeder if you care to own a purebred dog.

Hi,
I own a 3 yr old Shiba Inu. We also have a 3 yr old Torti cat (3 months old than our Shiba, Sushi). We also have a 2.5 yr old black cat.
WE had our Torti before we got Sushi - the 2 of them were best buddies after 2 days of hating each other. They still get along great and play all the time.
Our 2nd cat came along about a year after we got Sushi. I'm lucky in that none of these 3 have EVER hurt the other. Sushi likes to chase Bailey a lot though and she wouldn't fight back like Tatiana would.
BUT, over time and with A LOT of supervision, Bailey and Sushi get along much better. In fact, Bailey steals kibble out of Sushi's food bowl right while he's standing there.
Has your cat ever been around dogs before?
If you get a puppy, the cat can teach it that s/he is the boss of the houseIf you adopt, you will at least know if the dog is already used to cats, and that's definitely a plus!
