I live over near Monroe moving north into Union parish. I can believe that number from the amount of strays I see running around here. Since it has gotten so hot, I haven't seen as many. I can only hope they were caught and put down rather then suffered and died out in the heat. There is no shelter in Union parish at the moment. There is a group working towards one in combination with Lincoln parish and the Humane Society.

Good for you to volunteer and lend a hand. It is really needed
