those things suck, thats why I recomemded the screwing kind.. its made to support the weight of a trailer hooked up to a car/truck. They come in small to HUGE so a 1-2 inch thingy will do & wont be heavy for the dog.

Mine is made to support the full pulling strength of a Rottweiler, so I am pretty certain that it would be safe to use on Buddy. It screws up on the leash and the collar, so there is no way it will come undone. Sometimes my soon-to-be hubby doesn't screw it up and it still doesn't come undone.

their strength is great, but its the clip thingy that sucks.. they can just break off, or the spring breaks & then it can fall off the dog.. the screwing kind is super hard to break!

I just have it screwed up in the picture so you can't really tell. It is hard to explain how it works, but it is exactly how you described the screwing kind. You mean like this?

That is the same as my collar/leash combo. Besides that, a well trained dog should not have a chance to break any type of collar.

Nope.. The whole thing is a screw.. If I knew the proper name of the thing I would google it..

that's great he's doing better. i wish all owners that have problem dogs would try to work on the problems like you did instead of just "getting rid of the dog".

cheap flexi leads are a bad investment. i advise you to spend the money on a Flexi brand lead if you want a retractable. they are the best there is. you'd probably want something that can hold over 75-100lbs. depending on how much Buddy weighs and how strong he is. Flexies are expensive, but definatly worth the money.

as for the running off part he may stop that after a while if you work with him enough. be sure to teach him to "come". that word may save his life someday.
