Next week I am starting my ante-natal classes at the hospital where I will deliver. During the classes we get a tour of the maternity ward, plus meet all the midwives ahead of time. They also arrange a consultation with the anaesthetist to discuss epidural etc, so by the time I arrive in labour they will have a "birth plan" for me documenting all my specific requests / requirements. This is especially important for me as I am planning on banking the cord blood, so they need to know ahead of time to do that asap after the delivery.

Another thing I can strongly recommend is labour / breathing classes. With Amber they gave me pethadine (gas), but with Amy I was better prepared and did lamaze breathing through the labour, so had no drugs at all. Not sure what to expect this time - some people say that it will be like having a 1st baby again due to the age gap (14 years), others say as it is number 3 it should be a breeze!!
