    Why wait?

    For health reasons it is extremely desirable to spay before the first heat.

    The chances of infection on dirty snow in the winter is no greater than the chances of mud in the summer. My female decided to go into escape mode (she's a runner) 24 hrs post surgery. By the time I caught up to her she was literally covered in mud. No problems... the wonders of antibiotics.

    ok cool.... well luckly she hasnt had her first heat yet. and she is already 14 months old. (she was born on augest 17, 04) is that getting late? shoulden't she have had her heat by now?

    no, it depends on the dog it self, it dosn't really matter because your getting her spayed anyway.
