Just thought I'd let you know that our Pad is still around, bless his little heart. He is on heart medication and some other pillls ... something to do with water on his lungs or preventing it or something like that. They have had a couple of scares with him but he's pulled through so far.
Thank you once again for the prayers and good thoughts and may I ask that you continue to say a prayer for him now and then. Thanks.
Chris
Dear Chris -- I am so happy to know that Paddy is still "kicking"! I notice that you first posted about him in September last year, so for him to still have a good quality of life six months later is excellent.Originally Posted by ChrisH
I would be very interested to know what medication he has been on, because my 15 year old terrier mix has been diagnosed with heart failure and water in the lungs (per xray). He has been taking Lasix and Enalapril for 2 weeks now and is doing better, but his breathing is still somewhat labored. I am concerned that he should be taking some antibiotic, but the vet has not prescribed it. I wonder -- was Paddy treated with antibiotic?
My 'lil Shorty is still happy and has a good quality of life, and I'm hoping that with proper management he will have as much more time with us as possible. Paddy's story gives me hope. God bless!

Chris, Paddy looks like such a sweetheart of a pup - you can add my prayers to the list too. But I am really glad to hear that he has had more time than you initially thought.
Holy Cow I lived in Wrexham for a year lol.... ( up by the old closed down steel works. I moved from there pretty fast.) do you think we should really confuse folks and start talking in welsh lol.
I'm from across the border so my welsh is text book and very rusty ....![]()
Thanks Gini.
Oh, I am sorry to hear about your boy having the same thing as Paddy.Originally Posted by Dot
I asked Jayne, my daughter-in-law, about Paddy being on antibiotics and he has. When he was first diognised and once again earlier this year when it was thought he had some sort of infection. Of course that doesn't mean your boy needs them too but it might be as well to check.
Good thoughts and prayers on the way for your boy. Please give him a kiss from me.

Talking in Welsh? Well, don't know about confusing other folks but it would certainly confuse me 'cos, despite being born and bred here, I don't speak a word!... well, maybe a few words. I know I should be, and am, ashamed.

Some news about our Pads, but not good I'm afraid. Not his heart/lungs, he's been doing well on the medication, surpassed all expectations, it's something entirely different, diagnosis is he has the equivalent to senile dementia in humans.
Poor old fella has gradually been losing control of his bodily functions, only managing to eat if he's hand fed home cooked food and now his sight is failing plus he's losing his sense of direction.
When they took him to the vet tonight the he said there are some pills they could try but there hasn't been any reported success with them. His opinion was it would be kinder to put him to sleep, he would if it were his dog.
They didn't want it done right then, Jayne, my dil especially, so they took him home. She wants to spend some time with him, take him out somewhere he enjoys going, take some pictures.
They did take the pills with them, who knows if they will help or not. I hope so.
It has to be one of the hardest thing in the world doesn't it, saying that final goodbye to an old friend.![]()
