How to deal with the grief

First let me express my deepest sympathies for the loss of your dear companion. What you're going through is just as real as if you lost a human member of your family, our dogs can be our children, our closest friend, our comforter, our playmate, our guardian, and so much more. Please do feel free to post a tribute or memorial to your dog in Dog Memorial here. You can also read other people's memorials who are going through grief too, and see that they are suffering as you are. There is a lot of support out there for pet loss, some websites are dedicated wholly to this. There are also books out there about dealing with the loss of your dog, if you have a book store near you, you could try to find one of those in the pet section.

I truly hope some of this can help you. My advice would be to simply let yourself grieve and don't hold back, you need time to grieve this terrible loss. Try to talk with other people who have gone through what you are going through, it helps so much.
