Thanks guys. I'm really freaking out here. During this kitten season, the kill rates of adult cats are so high And since shelters legally have to keep strays for a few days, they generally kill owner surrenders before they even put them in a cage

I am horrible driving long distances but I'd be willing to drive all the way to the other side of Texas and a bit further if needed (that'd be like 13 hours one way I think because that looks to be about the halfway point between here and Modesto).

Tonya, would you be willing to arrange a flight or at least extend the deadline so we can figure out a transport? I really would like to help so that the cats don't have to die.

Oh Tonya, I didn't see your post. I'm in Austin. Mapquest said it is 26 hours, but it would probably be a bit less. And I could meet you at the western border of Texas. Or maybe Laura could help a bit on the Arizona leg?

PHEW, looks like we might be able to arrange this.

Aly, I'm glad you're saving them. I wish you all the best. I won't say any more.

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.

Fur as dark as the night.
    Join me on this flight.
Paws of love that follow me.
In my heart you'll forever be.

How I wish I could hold you near.
Turn back time to make it so.
Hug you close and never let go.

Tonya, I just read about this from a cross-post that Doo did. I have a friend in California that might be able to help with the drive issue. I'll contact her right away.

My heart goes out to you. You're doing the right thing, even though it hurts so much. Your son comes first. He always will. I know the furkids seem like our children, but they aren't.

Your flesh and blood come first. You must see to his health. The furbabies will be ok elsewhere. He won't. I know how hard it is to lay there listening to him cough all night long, your heart breaking for him.

Bless you for trying so hard to rehome them. I'm hoping and praying that it will work.

    Total Est. Distance: 612.26 miles

Says it is 9 and a half hours.

If you could do that, it would be so awesome and helpful! It'd also be great to meet you

I sure do love you all! I can get to Tucson in about 9 hours and that'd be ideal since I have family there. We've just spent alot of money on a specialist for Jaden's adhd so if I can save on hotel expenses that'd be awesome. The consultation and testing alone is almost $4000. Anyways, I can leave Friday afternoon and arrive in Az around 1am or if that's a problem, Laura, I can leave Saturday morning. Either way, I'd like to be back in time for Jaden to go to school on Monday. Would that work? I can give you two some money for the trip.

    Thank you Wolfie!

This weekend works for me because I don't have to work on this coming Saturday. I do have to work Friday night, but I could leave Sat morning and be in El Paso on Sat evening.

p.s. I know beggers can't be choosers, but if someone wants to help me get the cats from Ca to Az, that'd be great. It's not going to be fun to take a newborn and 7 year old on a long distance drive.

    Thank you Wolfie!

Very exciting if this can work! Tonya, I know your heart is just in pieces from this whole ordeal, but a foster home with Aly seems to be a fabulous solution.

Um, can we get road trip pictures! We love you allllll!

I just remembered I have to pet-sit this weekend. Let me see if I can still make it though.

Ok I can pick up the cats when you get in on Friday night, Alexa has a spare bedroom where the cats can stay overnight. Then I can head out to El Paso early saturday morning.
