I was thinking about the coming 'anniversary' this past weekend and was wondering about all the memorials and rememberances that would take place.........

On Saturday before the Nascar race, Darius Rucker- lead singer of Hootie and the Blowfish did one of the most spectaular renditions of the Star Spangled Banner...The next day Marc Anthony did an equally powerful SSB before a football game.

It was great to see and hear two performers sing that song without 'stylizing' it.....they sang it they way it was supposed to be sung......they sang it from the heart..

I thought I was going to be bummed out this week because two years ago 9/11 was the start of a six month bummer for me...not after hearing those guys sing.

The SSB just let's us know that thru everything-night, rockets and bombs- that this song and some cloth strips sewn together in a stars and stripes pattern will always show us some comfort and strength in difficult times.

It's a day to remember and grieve, but it's a day to celebrate
the people we lost, the strength we gained and the life we live.
