How cool! I hope Marlin will use them instead of trying to play *Superman!* I think the ramp is also an excellent idea. It will be a nice project for you and your dad to work on together.
I belong to a poodle board and I am attaching some photos that a gal posted there of her little toy poodle who was just too little to get up on the bed by himself. They made him some stairs (you can see him up on the bed) and they also made stairs for him in the kitchen as he enjoyed watching his mommy on the computer.
Just don't let Marlin see these or he will be asking for stairs to be built all over the house.
