Lucy at first didn't know what to make of this little dog who didn't want to run and play with her. At first she seemed put off by it, like she thought that Molly didn't like her. Then, it seemed like she realized somehow that she was sick - does that sound crazy? She followed her everywhere - napped with her, went from room to room with her, watched her eat and drink....

Lucy would bounce toys in front of Molly's face, trying to get her to play. She would nuzzle her, trying to get her to get up. The only reason we waited to admit her to the emergency room, was because she was eating and drinking at home, and they told us that as long as someone (me) was supervising her in case she took a turn for the worse, as long as she was eating and drinking and getting her medicines, she was ok at home. Then, she woke up one morning and wouldn't move. She wouldn't drink, wouldn't eat....would barely open her eyes....so off to the ER we drove. They told us they didn't think she would make it - told us that it might be "financially prudent" to put her down. We told them to do what they could, and kissed her goodbye, in case it WAS goodbye. We went home, and Lucy was a wreck....going from room to room crying, looking for her friend.

Finally, Molly came home. At first she was still very tired, and still on medicine - but little by little, her personality came out! She got peppier, and started actually playing with toys - and with Lucy!

Now they're inseparable, and Molly is (fairly!) healthy! She has demodectic mange (the noncontagious kind) which we've been treating for a while, and is going away finally we think.

So....I hope you enjoyed my post
