We went a couple weeks ago, for a checkup, and they took a blood test and his blood was back to normal.

Hopefully I can answer the questions you had about the blood test.

As you know, rat poison thins the blood of rats, and thats how they are killed. Well, when they took Major's blood test, his blood was very thin, because it took about 25 minutes to clot, when I think they said 4 was average. When we took him a couple weeks ago, it only took 2 minutes to clot.

Woo Hoo! Thats great!! Glad to hear he's back to normal!

I think the test you had done was the coagulation panel, which tests the blood clotting abilities. That test does not show that a dog ingested poison but it does test the clotting abilities which are poor to non-existant if the dog did ingest poison so I guess in a way it could help you guess that the dog ate poison.

Kaige's coagulation panel was about 2 minutes too!

Oh - perhaps it could have been a coagulation test. I remember the emergency vet on the phone talking about that and some other test too, I think.
Anyway, I guess once we saw (heard) the results of his clotting, when we took him in the 2nd time when he was very ill, we knew it was the poison because we knew that he had eaten it for sure. I guess if you had no idea why your dog was sick it would not help as much. I see what you were trying to say now.
