My cat belly!!

Hello everybody!!! well im new to this and find it very interesting, that there's people in the world that can talk about and hear me out of what i love talking about and is cats and justt animals. Well I have a female cat and she was spay and ever since then she eats eats eats all day she eats alot. But her stomach is hanging a little bit like if you grab you feel skin. I just wanted to know is this normal?? or is this something that happened because the spaying?? cuz before i spay her she never had that. So can some please let me know is this normal or not???

Hi and welcome to PT!!! I'm sure you'll love it here. Yes, this is normal and this usually happens after a spay or neuter surgery and I've also noticed that as a cat gets older the hanging belly may get bigger because the cat will lose some of it's muscle and gain more fat.

There's nothing to worry about but you might want to start feeding her a measured amount of food or try feeding her smaller portions throughout the day instead of free feeding her.

Yes, my Taz has the belly flab too. When he runs down the hall it swings back and forth. My boyfriend always makes fun of him. But I don't mind, because he used to weigh 7lbs more, so he's trimmed down, but the flab remains.

My RB Peeka actually had udders that swung back and forth when she walked but it didn't happen until she got older. My only suggestion would be to watch what and how much you feed your cat so that obesity doesn't occur and shorten her life, especially if she's, hopefully, an indoor cat because she'll need daily exercise, too. I agree with the other posts; normal for a spayed female. Keep limits on her feedings as that will help.

Do you have a play time with her? Use a dangling toy and get her to do a few sit ups each playtime. That will help with the muscle tone, a little bit. And it is such FUN!

THanks everyone!!! that stress relief finally left, I was scared I thought something was wrong. BuT THEY gain more weight after they fix right??? and for the person who ask if i play with my cat exercise and stuff yes i do everyday i would run around with a rope and my cats will all chase me, so its exercise for all of us haha.. So thanks every1 once again!!!
