Aww, how cute. I used to have two lil red eared sliders of my own. I got them like 3 years ago for christmas, but unfortunately one died a few months after I got them. But, one of them lived for 2.5 years. Unfortunately it had died this summmer in an accident, I was soooo sad. You can tell which ones are females from the males usually because males turn almost black and have really long claws, females stay green and I think are bigger than males, this is when they are mature adults I think at around 4 years old. In the old days, people thought the black turtles were a different type painted turtle but came to find out it was the male of the red eared sliders. Wow, sorry that was long.lol. Anyway they are really fun pets, best of luk!!

Awww! :D What a cute lil' guy!

We got Kahn when he was 5 days old; he's also a red reared slider. He is now 4 and about the size of my palm--he's such a good lil' boy. LOL We had to move him to a 40 gallon tank because he grew so quickly and when we move somewhere where we plan to buy a house I would love to build him an enclosure in the backyard.

They get pretty big!
Males can be like 8" and females can grow to a foot (just shell length)
I've always wanted one but I don't think i'll have room for such a big turtle!

I know, i was just reading that yesterday. Ahh, i want my little Squirt to stay small! :p Hehe. But i do plan on getting him a BIG aquarium to set up in my room, only when he gets a little bigger.
CalliesMom, I want to do the same... I've been talking to my dad about building a nice little pond for him in the back yard where there's a mixture of sun and shade. My dad said he'd think about it.. :p
Thanks everyone..

Here's Tooter. He is a full grown male. You can see his long claws in these pictures. I will try getting some updated photos of him as soon as I go to my moms. :)
