A Cat's Will

When I die do not stand above my grave and let your tears fall
Do not let grief take over your life and all you’ve lived for
Find another that can take my place
An old unloved cat with nothing to live for
Or an abandoned kitten stuck in the streets of New York
Dare you not say you will never replace me
You need another no matter what happens
Who else better to comfort you in harsh times than an old cat or an abandoned kitten?
Who can take you through the oceans of hardship if not another cat?
Mold and shape them to your liking
Give them my blanket, my pillows, my place by the fire
Make a costume for them on the festive occasions
Give them treats and make them happy like you once did for me
Make me happy, make me proud
After all, you will always have a place in your heart where I flourish
Take another cat, like me.
I was abandoned in the streets of New York, and I was old
So, make another cat proud to be with you
You will always know where I am
So go and get another
I will be with them, you, and I will teach them the ways of me
And when your alone in the damp frosty night
Look at the stars above
I am there
I know you will have listened to me when I see the black cat on your lap
Purring as you gently pet it
Like you did to me once
Like you did to me

		The Found Cats,are not rplacements,for my Angels,but a testament to thier love,and a tribute,to them.
The Found Cats have memories of thier Cat friends , and I think, that the Siamese leave space for thier Friend BJ,to fit in when they make a Meezer Pile.
And Scrappy, and Pouncer are in the house, and Fluffy,Munchkin,Sheba ,Smokey,Smoke,Orange Blossom,Tiger are all here too.And the Porch Angels,Gem.Karina ,GCK,Angels Roadblock, and Charcoal are here for visits when they are not on the road with The Pet Talker Angel Army,as are my childhood Cats,Smokey,Missy,Lester,George,Sinbad ,Forsty,Frisky, and Lester.
All Angels,All the Time.

What a loving sentiment, and a reminder to all of us that there are so many unwanted felines in need of love and devotion. In spite of our grief at losing one so dear to our heart, we eventually should welcome another forlorn soul, not to replace, but to honour our dearly departed kitty.

I am so glad you bumped this up. This is beautiful. It makes me think of the difficult time when my Taz must leave me. It really helps me know that it's okay to move on. Goodness, I do hope that time is many years from now. But I'm going to keep this poem on my computer so I can come back to it when I need to.
Thank you.

It was beautiful, it makes me think about my RB Mr. Kitty. I have always said that when we were ready, we would find another cat who needs us. Mr. Kitty was a rescue, and I know that the best way to honor his memory is to save another cat's life. Thank you so much for this poem.
