You do know how to tell male from female right? The males will have a very obvious indentation on the bottom of their shell to make room for the females shell during mating. At such a young age they will just barely begin to indent if they are male, so it may take a bit longer to know who is male, and who is female. :)Quote:

Their average lifespan is around 80-100 years. They'll probably outlive us! ;) They make wonderful pets.
Cass, yep, we do. :) My mother checked the other day, and she's almost positive all of them are female.

Great pictures! I haven't seen desert tortoises in years. My great grandmother used to have them in her backyard when I was a little girl.
