My beagle stayed with my ex when he and I split. She was a rescue from a puppy mill (a breeder) and was terribly abused. For the first three years she lived with my boys and me we would have to drag her from under the sofa/day bed four or five times a day to take her outside to go to the bathroom. When she comes to visit me, she's very social and likes checking the house out. When she's with my ex, she's an outside dog and doesn't get a lot of attention, but she's happier outside than in my small house with another dog (about 100 lbs) and three cats. She is the sweetest dog and I can't wait to have a decent yard for her to play in so she can come live with me.
