This is Twister, isn't he handsome? He knows it, too. He is a Catalina Macaw, and he is ten years old. A Catalina Macaw is actually not found in the wild, they are a hybrid people created of a Scarlet Macaw and a Blue and Gold Macaw. They have so many gorgeous colors, and we fell in love with him right away.
Macaws are not for everyone, they require a lots of care, can be loud sometimes, and need a lot of toys to keep them happy, and he is kind of spoiled. But they are smart, so they have to have something to do, or they'll use that huge beak to take things apart. In fact, rope toys don't have a very long life around here, he enjoys picking them apart. But the best part about Twister is not his looks or his many toys. The best part is: Twister loves to snuggle! He's a very special bird.
