Shafan is a sensational Rex
The color of cloudy skies and creamy milk;
Her fur is as soft as plushy velvet
And as pure as the finest silk.
She has endless room in her heart
For both love and affection,
Plus she's inquisitive and spunky
Which qualifies her for perfection.
With dynamic energy she thrives on
Exploring the place
And claims the entire apartment
As grounds for her play space.
When it's time to relax she kicks back
Like a queen on a throne,
Beckoning me to come join her
As a masseuse of her own.
In my eyes she's such a temptation
So I often give in
Finding it a pleasure to tickle her
Back, face, ears, and chin.
When she hears a sound reverberate
From the other side of the wall,
She rises into "periscope mode"
As though she could hear better if two feet tall.
She grinds her teeth when she's happy,
And grunts when presented a new toy
But when truly elated, she performs
Her charming "jumps of joy."
When she's pleased with the world she rolls
On her back in a mesmerized daze,
Adding perspective and enriching my life
In her countless soft and simple ways.
For this reason and plenty of others, she's the pet of my days.
