Corky
is a cockatiel and was a gift from my father and mother. My
mother raises cockatiels and my father took him out of the big bird
house outside and tamed him in their home. He has brought me much
joy and laughter.
Corky is full of personality. He loves people, attention, and eating
off my plate. I call him my bird dog because he whistles to let me
know when he sees someone coming. And if he recognizes them, he gets
very excited and starts flying from one room to the other until they
reach the front door. And he has his favorites.
He whistles, including the wolf-whistle and the Andy Griffith theme
song, and talks. He says hello Corky, pretty bird,
come here, and his own combination of all of those.
Sometimes he will even play peek-a-boo.
He even puts himself to bed at night. Every night between 9 and 10 he
goes into his cage (I leave it open all day so he can go in and out
at will) and whistles until he gets my attention. He's letting me
know that it's time to close the cage and cover him up.
