View Full Version : Lovely Gray Cat in need of a home

The other day a lovely gray cat followed my neighbor home when she was out walking her dog. She cannot keep her because she knows she can't afford another animal and I'm at my limit.

She's all gray with gorgeous green eyes, has all her claws. Unfortunately I don't think she is spayed and I do think she might be pregnant. Because of that, we're afraid if we take her to the shelter they'll put her to sleep.

We've been asking around if anyone has lost or wants the cat with no luck. I've called the Animal Resource Network and left a message but haven't heard back.

She doesn't seem to mind dogs. She growled and hissed a few times at Caly and Kia, but didn't scratch. She growled at Heela's two cats too, but did nothing more than that. Heela's cats ignored the gray.

Here's some pictures:

She is gorgous. If I lived nearer (say the same country), I would be down in a flash.

Hoping you find her a furever home asap.

What does the vet say about her ?

Haven't had a chance to take her to the vet unfortunately. I'm hoping to take her in on Saturday. :)

Doesn't she have the look of russianblue's Natika ? :D

Fingers crossed at the vets.

I was thinking russian blue too, but after talking to Moosmom I agree with her and I think she's a Korat or at least a Korat mix. :)

Hopefully that'll help her chances at finding a home.

(Watch... I'll post at the same time as Moosmom. ;) )

Oh my! If I only lived closer! I think she looks like a cross between Russian Blue's Nakita and my Hayley. Absolutely Beautiful!!

She's magnificent! If I were nearby she might become #11. :) Best of luck finding a home for her.

From what I can gather from her pictures, I'd say she is a Russian Blue, mostly because of her emerald green eyes, the angle of her ears, and the shape of her head. Korats do not have green eyes.

Ramanth, I would definitely take her in if I lived closer, or perhaps better stated; if there was a way to get her down here, she would definitely have a new home.

Wayne,

I've compared two links with pictures of both the Russian Blue and the Korat.

She does look like a Russian Blue. But, I had a Korat and their eyes DO turn green at about 3 years of age.

Grey kitty's owner has been located!! I talked to Kim last night and she asked me to post this because she won't be near a computer till Monday.

She said she'll post details then.

YAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY!!!!

Great job Kimmy!!

That's great. Hopefully the cat escaped by accident (I've had that happen.)

Great news. Maybe Grey cat was microchipped ?

She looks, from the photos at least, like she's been looked-after - nice, glossy coat etc. I hope you can find a home for her really soon, the poor darling!

Moosemom, I was not aware that Korats had green eyes. I do know that Russian Blues eyes turn emerald green after their kitten color have been outgrown.

Wayne,

I hope you didn't take offense at me pointing that out. My Korat, Tucker's eyes turned green just recently (he just turned 3 in April). When I compared the two pictures on the links, the cats are VERY similar in looks. But I always thought that Russian Blues were alot fatter and their heads were rounder than a Korat.

I'm just glad Smokey (that's her name) was returned safely to her humans. Evidently she snuck out the door and crossed over the creek into the apartment complex where Ramanth lives.

BTW, how are your new babies doing?

I'm sure Smokey's people were very glad to get their beautiful girl back safely! Little do they know there were folks getting ready to drive across the country to adopt her. ;)

As much as we miss Smokey's company, Heela and I are very happy that we got her back to her owners.

That Friday, Heela and I hung Found posters around the apartment complex and around town. After doing that and walking our dogs, I went back to my apartment and checked my cellphone. I had one voice mail. It was from a Heather who was estatic that I found her cat.

Her name is Smokey and she's an indoor cat. Someone had left Heather's door ajar and Smokey slipped out unnoticed. By the time Heather realized she was missing, Smokey had already jumped the creek and had followed Heela home.

When Heather came over (in socks no less! 'No time to put on shoes.' she said. ;) :D ) Smokey meowed and gave Heather lots of kisses. :D

I love happy endings.

Oh goody! I'm so happy to hear that Smokey was reunited with her owner, and sooooo glad to hear that her owner was so excited to know that you found her that she didn't even take time to put her shoes on! She obviously loves Smokey very much and was traumatized by her getting out.

Great work Kim and Heela! :D

A happy story, so glad you found her owner. She looks like all of my cats, tht somehow makes it even worse to think of her in need.
