Marlin has made it clear that it is a HUGE SACRIFICE for him not being allowed to sleep on Dad's bed. LOL. (He is SO dramatic!) So we will need something for when his 30 days of no activity is over.
I just purchased this set of stairs at an ebay auction.

You can get them at the maker's web site for $65, and free shipping. At their auction, I got it for under $47, including the shipping fee. I did quite a bit of research and this seemed the best deal for what we will need.
What we REALLY want is this ramp:

Hard to tell in the photo, but there is a 5 inch guard rail which encourages the dog to stay ON the ramp and not jump off part way down. The ramp is SO expensive. Dad said he will consider making one, which would be wonderful.
Here is the web site for the ramp:

Among other things, I like the ramp because it goes along the foot of the bed, so Dad can still easily get in and out of bed on either side. It has a platform at the top for the dog to turn. With the stairs, not sure if we can put it at the foot and let him turn or if we will have to put it at the side of the bed, sticking out.
I am hoping this will solve the problem.
