Our good friend, Scott, was looking for a new place to live with cheaper rent. He couldn't find a place that was affordable that would allow him to keep Buddy. He tried to find him a new family, and almost resorted to put him into a kill shelter (that's all they have where he lives). He came here on Saturday and asked us if we wanted to take Buddy. Buddy is a Jack Russell, we have known him for a little over a year. We have always loved Buddy, and treat him like he's part of our family. Me and Tim were waiting to add another dog after what happened with Bailey. It seemed to early to get another dog - it felt both right and wrong.

Needless to say, we said yes. Buddy is 5 years young and a real cuddlebug. He loves the kids and cats. Buddy isn't your typical JRT, he is extremely laid back and lazy. He is quite obedient, but needs a gentle hand. Scott was very firm with Buddy, a little too firm. He would cower when Scott raised his voice - definately not the same type of training I do. He is a smart little guy, and doesn't need much more as far as training goes.

He sleeps in our bed with us, follows me everywhere (especially to the kitchen) and just needs to be around people. His lifestyle before us was to sit in a truck all day long since Scott is a trucker. He needs to lose a few pounds, since he was never properly exercised. It was a hard decision, but we knew Buddy had us, or a kill shelter.

I have never been very keen on small breeds, I am used to living with large dogs. Buddy is one of the few small dogs I have ever "connected" with. He is an excellent companion and a great dog. Finding a new place to live, if need be, will be a piece of cake with a small dog. We are going to be buying a mobile home soon that allows small dogs and cats.

Anyway, enough of the blabbing and on to the pictures!

Thank you! Buddy is finally starting to get comfortable, and has figured out we are his new "parents". Me and Tim both knew that getting a large dog - and renting - wasn't a good idea. If Bailey had have been 80 pounds lighter and 20" shorter, it wouldn't have been so difficult to find a new rental. In Surrey, small dogs are accepted everywhere - even in stores.

We will be finding a new place to rent, or we will buy a mobile home soon. We both hate where we live right now. It seems so far away from "home" - I am used to living closing to Mom and Dad. Sorry for the blabbing, but I know some of you might wonder why we would get another dog if we had troubles finding a place to rent with Bailey.
