One of my friends contacted me saying that she had got word of a pregnant dog that some people were getting rid of, and they were going to give her to a known dog fighter, so we are going to take her in and foster her until after she has her puppies. Depending on how she does with our other dogs and how she fits in with us, we may keep her.

I have a lot of pictures of her, because I borrowed my sisters camera, and went to my friends house and we took a ton of pics. She is very good shape, and appears to have been well taken care of, I dont know why they are getting rid of her, and were going to give her to someone like that.
But regardless, my friend has her at her house now and will be keeping her there until we go back to South Carolina (which will probably be next week). My mom won't let me bring a grown pit bull in to her home.
She is not noticeably pregnant yet, but apparently, when my friend e-mailed her, they sent her pictures of her being bred and is supposed to be due on August 22nd.

If anyone wants to see the breeding pictures, which are pretty gross, you can PM me. I haven't deleted the e-mail that my friend sent me with them in it yet. I don't know why anyone would take pictures of that.

Omg, she is absolutely beautiful!! It does look like she was very well taken care of. I wonder why in the world they were giving her to people that fight them? I'm so glad that didn't happen. How old is she do you know? She really is an amazing looking pit bull. :)

She's beautiful!! Her eyes are so gorgous. How people can just dump her to a known pittie fighter is beyond me. I'm glad she's safe now, she sure is a pretty girl.

She's gorgeous! :) I dont know why they'd want to get rid of her. :( good luck with her and I hope you find all of her pups good homes! :) are you going to have her spayed and the pups fixed before they go to new homes?

Yes.. I am definitely going to have her spayed after her pups are weaned..

My friend said she would help pay for the puppies to be fixed too before they go to their new homes..

She is 2 years old (and has already had a litter before this one), and her name is Baby.

I was just asking because the last thing you would want is for some creep to breed them. We have too many of them in this world as it is. :( it's heart breaking. :( and that is great that your friend is going to help pay for fixing them. :)

The guy that had her and him sent them to my friend.

I wonder why the people had her bred if they were going to give her away?

I was wondering that myself. I don't know though.

Both of them are beautiful dogs. I hope the Daddy has as sweet a temperament as Baby (you need to change her name, btw! LOL).

Who knows why those people gave away their pregnant girl, but thank GOD they did! It's a relief that she will be raised in your loving home & she and her pups will be placed with great families... I can only imagine where the puppies would end up had the former owners kept her. -_-

If only I lived in SC! At least I could babysit, if not snatch one of the sweet babies. However, my aunt does live there... and she loves dogs... and I haven't visited her for a while... hehe

I was thinking she needs a different name as well, but so far we cannot come up with anything that sounds like Baby.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

i'm sooo glad she's in good hands now. :D she doesn't look very pregnant. the father is very handsome too. i wonder why they bred her then gave her away. i'm glad they gave her away though!

No. She doesn't look pregnant at all really. She is about 4 1/2 weeks pregnant if the day(s) they said she was bred are accurate, and I know a pregnancy is around 65 days so I think thats about 8 weeks or so that they are pregnant.. Maybe she just hasnt started showing yet.

You are, definitely, doing the right thing by taking her in so that she can have her puppies and you can find good homes for them. She looks very healthy and well cared for but why in God's name would anyone want to film her being impregnated?? Sicko owners I suspect.
Take care and good luck with your new responsibility.

she really does look well cared for. She looks like she has a sweet disposition, too. i'm glad you rescued her from going to a dog-fighter, what a horrible fate that would be for her and the puppies. Dog-fighting is something I'll never understand, I truly can't imagine why people do that to dogs.

if the mum isn't too far along maybe she can be spayed. i know this is a terrible thing to think about. i've had to do it before. but it prevents more pups being born. there are already not enough homes...just an idea. i hope you don't get upset.

gorgeous Baby! I'm so glad she has a safe haven now. And, um, I don't think taking pictures of breeding is gross, it's just breeding. It's gross if they were just in it without any real heart of purpose. (Which these people sound like so in this case it is a bit strange.) It's nothing I haven't at least seen in videos and in books before. People post pics of bettas spawning. but I guess that's just my take on it. When I breed I'll probably take pictures and or videos so I can learn from my mistakes. Matching the right dogs together is hard enough but the technical aspect of it can also be pretty hard sometimes and especially to perfect. It seems like they always breed when they're not supposed to and when you find a good match they don't wanna!

Lute you said my words! I know it sounds awful and we all love babies! however............................so many dogs so few homes. Please consider this as an option. On the surface it sounds cruel but faced with the actuality of pits going to responsible homes (jada pit for one my daughter etc) it may be kinder to mom and the babies.

I too was thinking that Lute, as sad as it may seem there are just so many dogs being PTS everyday as it is :(. She looks like a gorgeous girl, and Dad is a handsome dog.

Goodluck with her.

It has actually been mentioned on another forum I am a member of, so no I'm not upset.
I have been thinking about it, but we will be going back to South Carolina tomorrow and will be getting home on Wednesday, so I want to take her to my vet rather than to one of the vets here. He's a really good vet, very sweet, and will check your dogs over and over just to make sure he hasn't missed something. I also like him because he takes his time and doesnt rush you out of there like a lot of other vets I have had dealings with.

I'm going to get his honest opinion and then I will either spay her or not depending on how viable the puppies are at this stage in the pregnancy.
I know there is way too many homeless dogs, especially pit bulls, but if I have to, to keep them out of shelters or out of the hands of fighters, I will keep them.

Oh How heartbreaking!!
And it's all because of the bad rap that bad pittie owners have given them..... and to think that they aren't even in this world yet and they already have half of the world against them. :(

I wish you luck and strength in making this horribly hard decision.

well, whatever you do, we all know it will be for a chance. You know, there is a small chance she didn't take and she's not pregnant at all.
