Our darling Mimi, 17 years old, departed today, very peacefully and with the grace that she has always shown. Her mom and sister are very, very sad, but we know that we made the right decision. I'm so glad that I have been able to share this wonderful girl with you in the years I have been a member of Pet Talk.

It certainly has been a hard 7 months for us.........

Love,
Logan

Dear sweet Mimi, you will be missed by more people than you even know. You had a wonderful long life's journey and a devoted family to share it with. You can run and play now, at the rainbow bridge with renewed strength. And we know that you will be awaiting a reunion with your human family, one day.

Seek out those other furbabies who have made this trip so recently, and they will embrace you.

RIP Mimi. {{{{{{HUGS}}}}}} to your family.

Oh Logan, no... :(

I just came here and saw this. :(

I'm very sorry you have lost your dear Mimi! It's hard saying good bye to a good friend after so many years, even when we may find comfort in the thought that they now don't have to to suffer anymore. When they go, there's an emptiness left that's almost physical. With the passing of time, this emptiness will be filled with all the good memories of so many moments of love and joy.

R.I.P. little Mimi, now you're young and whole again!

(((HUGS))) to your meowmie!

Rest in peace, sweet Mimi! I know there are extra-soft pillows up there at the Rainbow Bridge, and marvelous garden for you to hunt in. You go find my Uncle Mac - he's got a soft spot for feisty girl-kitties, and will surely have treats for you, okay?

I'm so sorry that you have lost your beautiful Mimi. I remember not so long ago that you posted that lovely story, was it Helen's 16th birthday? Mimi was sitting amongst all the girls, taking part in all that was going on.

Mimi had a wonderful life, with you since she was a tiny kitten. She knew she was loved, her whole life.

Rest in peace, sweet Mimi, till we see you again.

Logan, I know how empty your home must feel now. Of course there are other furries to love but your special girl occupied a space in your home and heart for so long. I haven't been here long enough to have known Mimi when she was well, but your small photo of her allowed me to see what a calm beauty she was. It's such a shock when they leave so suddenly and with no sickness-related decline; you want an illness to fight to make you feel that you did everything you possibly could, but in Mimi's case her old age caught up with her very suddenly. You did, of course, do everything you possibly could to give her a wonderful life and that's what you need to focus on, even though all your feelings are focused on loss at this time.

It was great when Jen posted photos of Lucas for those of us who are new, and I hope you will feel like posting some of Mimi in her prime, when you are up to it.

Logan
07-13-2006, 04:42 PM
Lizzie, thank you. Your words are very special. I hope you will look back in this thread because Debbie and Anna posted some good pictures of Mimi. And I added a couple, myself. I dared not take pictures of her in the last few months as she looked so pitiful. I prefer to remember her in her better days, which they captured in their photos.

Thank you all, once again.

Oh Logan, I know bringing Mimi home brings some comfort, but not much. Even though her box is smaller, I'm sure it will be a big presence in your home, just like she was.

After I brought Tubby home, I set him on a shelf next to a picture of him. Quite often I found myself drawn there, and I'd talk to him as if he was sitting right there in front of me. It brought me a little comfort knowing even though he wasn't really there, he could still hear me and I knew he was there for me.

It hit me this morning that today is one year since we lost Mimi. You know, there is no replacement for a special one like she was. I'm not sure that any cat can fill her HUGE shoes, even though she was a tiny thing.

I miss her, and Helen misses her too. I was reading back over all of the thoughtful posts that you guys made after she left us and one from Cataholic (Johanna) hit me and I'm going to make a bold move tonight and take those beautiful wooden boxes that contain the remains of Murphy, Zipper, Mimi and Lilly and put them in my hope chest. I have never been able to bring myself to put them out in the open, but in my hope chest, which is almost 100 years old, they will be safe and secure, a much better option than the closet shelf that they are on, right now.

Here we are, introducing a new family member, tonight, and I am so excited about having him here (if you are interested, look in Dog Rescue), but at the same time, I feel a bit somber, reflecting on losing Mimi and all 3 dogs, too, in such a short period of time.

We move forward in honor of the memory of Murphy, Zipper, Mimi and Lilly, though. That's what they would want, as they all 4 cherished our family so much. :) What sweet souls they were.

Logan, how I understand - I have all of the dates of my kittie's passing - and it hurts all over again to deal with their loss.

You have had more than your share this past year - and here you are with a new baby to dote on.

Maybe that is why - why we lose them - so it makes room for another that needs all of the love your family has to offer.
