Found him swimming in my pool today. :) I got in and picked it up and set it on the ledge for a second and he ran and my mom was scared of him, so it ended up getting thru a hole in the fence and now idk where it is now :(
anyone know what kind it is? or about how old? and if its a boy or girl?

i dont really know. there is a lil river somewhat close(i'd hope not, cuz as far as i know its pretty dirty), but idk about ponds, nothing that i've ever seen, unless they're just further back and behind trees and weeds and stuff. I have no clue. He was all by himself, swimming around in my pool.

I agree that he looks like a malard.

I wonder how he got in the pool. Even if his parents were around I didn't think they'd be able to fly or walk up steps at that age? Can they?

It does look like a Mullard duckling but the feathers dont seem water proof yet and it should be kept warm.

I hope you can find that little duck try putting out some lettace leaves or some boiled choped eggs and hopefuly the duckling shall show up.

Good luck.

I don't know about age (besides that he looks very young) or sex. It has been my personal experience that, in quite a few birds species, the females tend to be duller than the males and some aren't(certain types of peafowl, for example). It sure is a cutie though! :D How could anyone be scared of anything that precious?

I'm a Lacuna Coil fan, too. :o

Aww, its adorable! :D

Male mallards are supposed to have green head and are not as dull as the females, so I have no idea if it's to small to tell. :D Hope you find the poor guys soon. :(

He looks to be a mallord like other's said. My ducks were about that size at one week old. Here is a pic of 2 of my mallords and 1 blue swedish.
