About Us
Shabu, the Pet of the Day
Name: Shabu
Age: Six months old
Gender: Male
Kind: Dwarf Lop
Home: Canberra, Australia, USA

This is our rabbit, Shabu, also known as Naughty Bunny (on a daily basis) whenever we bust him doing something that he shouldn't be. He has almost complete run of the house and you can be sure, if you are doing something he'll be there to inspect it, if he hasn't found something really good to chew first.

Shabu absolutely loves his vegies, and banana is his favorite fruit. His number one resting place is under our bed. If it's a hot day, he'll stretch out on some cool tiles. No matter where he is or what he is doing, Shabu is always ready for a scratch on the head. He often thumps his foot and grunts when someone has stopped patting him too soon.

Unfortunately Shabu loves to chew on cords. He has chewed through 2 phone cords and half chewed a mouse cord. We have also discovered bite marks in various cords around the house, with the plastic casing carefully chewed around the electric wires. As a result, we have taken precautions to prevent anymore "chewing incidents", and much to his resentment, Shabu is banned from the computer room. Other things get chewed, too. We often find chunks missing from magazines and anything that is cardboard.

Of course, Shabu absolutely loves the great outdoors. He sometimes sits at the back door and scratches it like a dog, waiting to get out. Once outside he loves to run through the grass and hide in the bushes. It's great fun watching him hop, skip and jump around. He spooks himself sometimes and tears off to a safe place, hiding from an imaginary predator.

All in all, I have to say that ever since we got Shabu, he has made our day, every day. We love Shabu so much.
