My Labor Day trip - all sorts of animals!

I went to my cousin's 100 acre farm in Morehead, KY for the Labor Day holiday. She breeds Kentucky Mountain horses. I have to say, she's an even bigger animal lover than me! She's in school for it (I forget what her degree program is called), and has lots of pets of her own! I thought I'd share a few pictures from this weekend. I have never seen so many different types of animals in one day - unless I went to a zoo!

    So here's some pictures!
    First, the dogs.

    Free, a supersweet mutt

    Adonis, the doberman - a total cutie-pie

Sadie, my aunt's 14 year old mini schnauzer

Rachel is a friend's dog (not my cousin's!!) who obviously has a thyroid problem. Have you ever seen a bigger black lab in your life?? Sweet dog though.

Finally, Queen of the Farm, Xena, my cousin's beautiful pit bull. She's six years old. I love this dog so much. She's so sweet!

    Sniffing a rock

"Pweeeze pway wiff me!!!" Can you believe those eyes??

Tongue (I seem to have a knack for getting tongue shots!)

In the barn, still begging to be played with. She'd play 24 hours a day if she could!

    Watching over the farm.

Kitties and lizards in next post...

    Kitties!!

Itsy Bitsy, the three-legged wonder. Itsy Bitsy is quite accident prone. Falling out of the loft in the barn, getting into fights...who knows. She broke two of her legs on two separate occasions, and the third time she broke one so bad it had to be amputated. It's her back left leg, and she gets around great without it! However, Itsy Bitsy is purely indoors now. She's SO sweet!! She never left my side the entire time I was indoors. Loves attention.

    "Pet me!!"

    "Meow, pet me!!"

Scallycat, the newest addition, is a four month old male. He has tons of fun stalking bugs, frogs, and butterflies in the fields.

Here, he rests up with a quick snooze on the porch.

Darby is a long haired wonder. At least 15 pounds, my cousin's not sure if he's Norwegian Forest Cat or what, but he's huge!!

Here's Tuff, a lack and white, relaxing on the porch. I love his face colorings!

Finally, my cousin has five tiny "skink" lizards. You can't tell in the pictures but they have bright blue tails. They're one month old. My cousin hatched them from eggs she found in the barn (probably growing on horse poo or something)!

    Next comes horses!!

The foals from this year, all Kentucky Mountain horses of course:

On the left is Captain, the roan is Boogie, and on the right is Moon. Moon was just weaned from her mother on Friday.

    A nice shot of Captain

Belize, one of the yearlings, getting a bath

    Beauty, a mare

Shine is the champagne and Sissy is the grey. Sissy is Moon's mother, and whinnied for her baby on and off all weekend.

How'd ya like to have THIS view from your front porch?

    More horses coming...

Me on the farm stallion, Spider

I love Spider. He's so sweet and so beautiful.

Another one of me and Spider.

Tequila (the chestnut) and Spook like to hang out together.

    Sissy and Shine grazing.

Here's Lucy, a mule my cousin rescued. She was abused, then put up for auction when she could no longer work. She's in great health now, and is getting used to people again. She currently lives at a friend's farm.

One more post, full of random animals...

A peacock we saw wandering around in the middle of the road...

We saw this huge bull wandering around on the open road. As we drove by it, it jumped into the barbed wire next to the road, and I managed to get a picture at that exact moment. He managed to untangle himself in a few seconds, though, and was eventually caught by his owner and put back in his pasture.

And finally, a view of my cousin's back property, taken while standing on the back porch, which is basically everything you see in the picture.

I'm working on getting two videos (one of Xena and one of Itsy Bitsy) done tonight!

Hope you enjoyed You can see the full album here.

Now that's my definition of "Paradise"! What a gorgeous peaceful looking area, and all the animals look so well loved and cared for. I don't think I'd ever want to leave LOL!
