Looks like I'm a Foster Mom-added video at end of thread

I came to work one day and found this note for me from one of my boss's tenants.

I picked him/her up this morning and have an appt at the vets in about an hour. He/she is the sweetest kitty. Loves being petted and purrs instantly. The tenant thinks some neighbors moved and left him/her...I'm going to call him "he" for convenience's sake, but I'll find out in an hour whether "he's" really a she or a fixed he. He has been living on their back porch for about a month now. He seems to stay close, and spend most of the day sleeping on their porch, but they wanted to find a good home for him. They can't take him because there are already two doggies living there that don't get along. I'm going to be keeping him in the office until I find a home for him. And staying in the office permanently isn't a good option since there is no one here in the evenings and all weekend.

I'm trying to get in touch with a local no-kill organization to help get him placed, PAWS I can see how people can feel the kitties like being outdoors because he has not stopped meowing and trying to get out since I brought him in here about an hour ago. He has already jumped up on my desk and gave me head bumpies, but I can tell he is scared and wants to get out and back to familiar territory. But that's not going to happen if I can help it.

Here are a few more pics I took. If anyone needs a loving kitty, please let me know. Sara, with his coloring, he'd be a perfect match for Edwina?

The best pic I've gotten so far.

    Scared and meowing.

    Scared, but cute kitty.

Checking the place out, notice the swishing tail.

He has now stopped meowing long enough to eat a few bites.

YEAAAAAA Debbie! Do you need a new home for Peanut?
Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is a full management plan in which stray and feral cats already living outdoors in cities, towns, and rural areas are humanely trapped, then evaluated, vaccinated, and sterilized by veterinarians. Kittens and tame cats are adopted into good homes. Healthy adult cats too wild to be adopted are returned to their familiar habitat under the lifelong care of volunteers

    Good try.

And Sara, you probably know that I would prefer he be an indoors only kitty - except on a leash or harness - but speaking of busy streets......it's amazing that he has survived this long on North Ave (near Western)!

Just got back from the vet. He's a neutered male, all claws intact, about 3 - 4 years old, and tested negative for FELV and FIV. Yeah! She didn't give him any vaccines because she thought that since he was neutered, he might have gotten them already. She told me to watch him for a week. If he didn't start sneezing or anything, she said I should bring him back in and they would vaccinate him.

He meowed the whole way to the vet (about 10 blocks) and all the way back, and most of the time we were there. They also dewormed him, clipped his claws and cleaned his ears - all for no charge. I had to fight a little to get him in the carrier. At one point he put his paw around my neck. I thought "Well, here come the scratches I've been waiting for." But he just ever so slightly extended just one claw (that I felt) and immediately withdrew it, even though he was still struggling. So even though he has claws, and has been outside, he knows to be gentle with them - what a sweetie.

I opened the carrier as soon as we got back in the office, and he came out and immediately went into my boss's office and under the drafting table. I think it's nap time now.

Now I need to come up with a name. I've been thinking Buddy or Buster, but that seems so common. I was hoping to come up with something that would reflect his sweetness, but also hint at his braveness while living on the streets......

Anybody looking for a sweet boy kitty?

Also, I was wondering about Petfinder.com. Can I, as an individual, put an ad there or does it have to go through some organization? I haven't had time to check it out yet. My boss is being very generous in letting me keep him here in the office until we find a home, so I don't want to push my luck by spending all day researching organizations on the phone and internet. Any other suggestions to help me find him a good home are most welcome!

Oh Debbie, he's so sweet it's hard to believe! The expression on his face!! It must be the sweetest face I've seen for a long time! I just can't believe anyone could leave him behind!!

I'm glad that he's been neutered and tested negative for FELV and FIV.

Debbie, you're an angel for helping him! I wish you could keep him! If I lived close, I'd take him - I wouldn't be able to resist! He deserves a loving family for sure!!

Lots of hugs to you and nosescritchies to him! Good luck finding the right place for him!

Welll...that's why I want to find him a good home. Here in the office is better than being on the street - in my opinion of course - but it's not the best because I can't be here at night or on the weekends for him. He deserves much more attention than that, so hopefully I'll find a good home real soon. I'll have to give him extra food and water and stop in when I can. My boss does come in sometimes on Saturdays, so he'll have to help out a little too on the weekends when I'm out of town or something.
He looks a little bit like my Logan.
I thought so too. It's the eyeliner that does it I think.

I also think in the one picture he looks a lot like Jupiter - if he were orange. His facial expression reminds me of a pic of Jupiter.

I've now sent emails to every organization that came up when I did a search on petfinder.com. Hopefully at least one or two of them will answer. It sounds like they are all full, but since they already have a foster home for him (me) I'm hoping they are more willing to help out.

He has been quietly sleeping in my boss's office since we got back from the vet. I went to the bathroom, and was surprised to see he had used the litter box, and was very neat about it too. So far he's been a real good boy.

Oh, he is adorable!!!!! Can't Tubby and Peanut open their hearts to one more?

As to names, I like the name Edwardo...or Eddie.....

You know, it wouldn't be a horrible life to live at the office...how is it much different than those of us that work, and leave our kitties at home all DAY? And, the weekends? Well, if your boss comes in on Saturdays.....maybe someone could stop in for an hour on a Sunday? It beats the streets.

Yes Jen, It DOES sound like fate.

Maybe Peanut and Tubby would like a sibling.

It might be worth a quick introduction visit (just to see) ??

T & P...and D (Debbie) would love to open their hearts to one more....unfortunately big T (Terry) has laid down the law and according to him "Two cats are enough in this house." Found that out when I tried my best to get him to relent and let me get Tubalina. Almost had him, but he just wouldn't back down, so I haven't even attempted a stab at bringing this one home.

I also like Edwardo.....goes soooo good with Edwina.....

And I agree about the office not being the worst place - and definitely beats the streets. I would love to have some company everyday, so we'll see how things go. If a good home doesn't materialize, the office it is. My boss isn't thrilled with the idea of having him here because we have to turn the motion sensor off on the alarm, but he was making "clucky" noises to him to try and get him to come out when he was here today. I think he's one of those guys that is a real softy at heart, but doesn't let it show through too much.

I got one response so far on my emails and she said she sent it to all the rescue organizations she knew of, so the word is getting out. I'm going to make up some flyers also, and contact some of the organizations in my home neighborhood too.

And PayItForward and PaysForIt....I see a new face in your signature! Guess I've got a lot of catching up to do to see how just one more made it into your home after the "3 is enough" phase.

    Re.New Cat.

I would take cat home for the weekend. Tell Terry, the boss won't let him stay unsupervised for so long. If you can get new cat and Terry to play together over the weekend. Once he thinks keeping kitty is HIS idea, you have won !!!

Well, it is worth a try...Pleeasee.
