A very sweet and pretty former feral cat-

We lost Penelope yesterday- she was about 3-4 years old when we caught
her whole colony at a gas station- she was a sweetheart of a cat from the
start, she loved people and would try to be first in line for lap time or
pets and loved to be carried around, even at the gas station- she showed
no signs of any troubles at all, checked out OK vetwise, no weight loss
or sickess or change in behavior, she spent the day before as usual,
eating, asking for pets and spending time purring in laps- then yesterday
she was cold and dead under the edge of the sofa- she looked perfectly
relaxed, whatever it was happened fast, thank God- we suspect some sort
of cancer no one detected, as so many of her relatives from that colony
have passed from cancers- she was about 12-13 years old- we're really
going to miss her on the sofa in the evenings, with her big purrs and
soft conversations- she was mostly white with some patches of grey and
grey tabby fur, she had a very pretty face and a sweet smile and a BIG
purr-

Feral colonies in places like that are inbred to some extent and subject
to many health problems, including cancers- but Penelope led a happy life
here for 9+ years, and we loved her deeply as she loved us- it's hard
losing another family member, but rescuing ferals means dealing with
shorter lives sometimes- we won't stop helping cats like Penelope-they're
SO worth it- they love us just as much as we love them-

Play hard at RB, sweet Penelope- we'll see you again someday- send purrs
to us and your relatives here.
