Our tabby Deuce passed unexpectedly on 3/23/25, apparently of congestive
heart failure. He'd been fighting an infected area in his right cheek, a
couple of abscessed broken tooth roots, and they were removed on 3/21- he
was recovering nicely, eating (soft food) well, enjoying laps and pets
and sleeping with us and being his usual sweet self, biscuiting and
purring- then suddenly Sunday evening his condition worsened, he became
unresponsive, had a small seizure and passed away- he was only 11- he was
born here in our house in 2014, his mom Cleo had four kittens 2 days
after we caught the entire colony of semi-feral cats at a local gas
station- his brother and sisters are still here and apparently healthy-
We were really looking forward to poor Deuce being able to live and love
many more years, his death was sudden and unexpected- but a biopsy taken
during his dental procedure came back as spindle-cell carcinoma, very
invasive and aggressive, and several of his pals from that colony have
died of cancer, so it wasn't a healthy environment for cats or kittens to
live in- maybe he was spared something worse by his sudden death- but we
miss him terribly.
As often happens, his older brother Tank, who has never slept with us,
has slept between us every night since Deuce passed away- so maybe our
sweet Deuce is still here, through his brother- but we miss him terribly-
send purrs from RB, Deuce, and live free of any tooth problems til we
meet again-
