    Gorgeous Shima!

Dearest Shima, what a gorgeous guy you are! You're an absolutely stunning fellow, with that grey and white (and perhaps a bit of orange?) fur and that sweet face with the interesting markings and those lovely big eyes. You are so cute in all those great photos, and thank you for sharing them with us. They certainly do tell quite the story of you and your family! There you are as a kitten, with Mom and Dad holding you in the last shot, and was that right after you joined the family? And next you're standing on your hind legs and reaching for the dangling toy, your mouth wide open. You look so excited! And in the other two you're grown up, relaxing on the couch with Mom skritching your head in one, and you crouching in a paper bag in the other. I wish I could reach through the screen and over to ...wherever you are here in southeastern Michigan, perhaps not very far away ..and pet you! I can't, of course, but I know your loving and beloved Mom and Dad will pet you for me .

And what a wonderful story, so full of love, you have to tell! Your dear Mom-and-Dad-to-be and you all adopted each other at the mall pet store when you were just nine weeks old. You played with them in the playpen, and then you lay on your back like a baby in Dad's arms. They knew then that you were meant to be a member of the family! They named you Shima, Japanese for "stripe," after your Dad's Japanese name and for your stripy Tabby heritage.

You have a very important role to play in your family! Your Mom lives with chronic pain and chronic illness, and she's home most of the time while Dad works. You can tell when she's hurting the most, and you curl up with her, gazing at her and purring. Or you might jump on her lap and reach up for her face and kiss her forehead. You take such good care of her! You're so sweet and good-natured, so loving and caring, she never feels alone with you there. You and she and Dad all love each other very much, don't you. What a wonderful love-filled home you share!

Congratulations, darling Shima, on being chosen today's Cat of the Day! We hope you and your dear Mom and Dad and all your family and friends are enjoying a fine celebration, full of fun and lovies and all your favorite games and treats.

I meant," said Ipslore bitterly, "what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?"
    Death thought about it.
CATS, he said eventually. CATS ARE NICE.

    Gorgeous Shima!!!

Hi Shima! Happy Cat of the Day, sweetheart! Oh, how my heart melted, Shima, seeing your beautiful, sweet Tabby face peeking out of that paper bag, seeing all of your precious photos, especially those family photos! Speaking of family! I loved learning the origin of your name, Shima! Yep, you're a stripy and a Daddy's boy!

I was so moved, Shima, reading your proud Mom's love filled tribute to her precious boy. I'm so very sorry to hear of your her daunting health challenges, Shima, dealing daily with near unbearable, persistent pain and chronic illness. Thankfully she has you, her loyal and loving buddy there by her side each day while your Daddy is at work, sensing when she's experiencing extreme pain, comforting her with a soothing purr, a velvet paw to her forehead, a sweet and a warm cuddle.

Shima can always seem to tell when I hurt the most. Most of the time when I am living at my most painful, he jumps up on the couch and curls up with me, just staring at me and purring. He'll also randomly jump on my lap when I'm hurting, reaching up for my face and kissing my forehead. He takes such good care of his Momma!

I'm so glad your Mommy has you, her source of unconditional love, comfort and emotional healing, to turn to during those difficult days, sweetheart. Our animal companions, our fur babies, have such an uncanny ability to bring peace to our lives with their quiet love and unwavering devotion, even when no human can. How blessed your Mommy is, having such a furkid in you, Shima. You truly her furry soulmate, Shima, heaven sent, just as special as can be!

Many thanks to your Mom for sharing your heartwarming backstory with us, Shima! Meeting you today, learning of the very special bond of love and devotion you and she share has been a joy! I hope this finds your Mommy having a "better" if not good day, the two of you sharing special time together, cuddling on the couch and sharing tons of love, cuddles and kisses (with time out of course for you to bat around those toys dangling from your scratching post)! Lots of love, snuggles and kisses to you, beautiful, sweet, amazing stripy Shima, our very special and most deserving Cat of the Day, EVERY day!!!

    Precious Shima!
