I don't agree with bringing pups home before 8 weeks normally, but Rachel is responsible enough to look out for the signs of something wrong, especially with previous experience!

Anyway, I just about AWWWW'ed at every single photo. He's adorable!! Welcome home, Ryder!! He's going to be incredibly handsome! You guys going to do any hunting with him? I'm not sure if you're into that or not, just wondering! I love seeing dogs do the work they were meant for.

I was more concerned that the supposedly responsible breeder would let one of their babies leave early, and that his heart murmer was not picked up on first vet visit.

    How sweet!

Oh my. This brings back memories of when Prue, my doggie, was a pup. I am reminded each day, actually, because she left many a corner chewed. It was my fault for leaving her for 10 minutes at a time. She did have a crate but like many dogs, put up such a fuss that I let her out all the time. Bad mommie. She is my shadow now and does not chew anymore.

I love the photos of your new little one. So sweet. I can smell that puppy breath from here!

Good luck with the little ball of fur. Keep those photos coming.

All I know and were told that heart murmur in pups is very common and usually goes as the pup gets older. Of course, we're concerned. So we'll see what happens.

Ryder - you are absolutely adorable!

Rachel - it appears that you have a "camera ham" on your hands. Lucky you!

It is NOT uncommon for puppies to come in for vet checkups and have a heart murmur. As you said, 95% of the time they go away as they get older, sometimes by the second visit even. I know you know this, I just wanted to throw it out there to others that seem concerned by this finding. Also, it absolutely can be missed on one visit, either that or the previous vet did not do a complete physical and listen to the heart. In ANY case, the babe will most likely be totally fine

And holy moly look how much he has grown in such a short time!!!!!

Aww, Ryder! I love the video of you playing with your squeaky ball! You found it and brought it back to mom -- good job!

Edited to add: Country Wolf, I re-watched the video to see and hear you talking to Ryder and watching him follow your instructions Gentle *kiss* to you, Ryder because you are so cute and fun to watch!
