and a really stupid Question Candace, no laughing. How can we tell if the new cat Moonlight is deaf? she is all white and seems to respond but only if the other animals are responding, I cannot get close enough yet to hold her or to Isolate her. I am wondering if that may be a part of her standoffishness???

There are a few good ideas I have heard here...do her ears turn like other cats' do, even if she doesn't look that direction?

Also, if you can get her alone, and behind her, shake a can of pennies or rocks...see if she reacts. Or clap your hands. Actually, do that with a few of the cats there, as you cannot isolate her. They will react - and she---?

Or shake a granola bar at her and see if she RUNS LIKE HELL!

Disclaimer: That last suggestion has not been verified by independent medical research.

her ears are always straight ahead, it is rather disconcerting truthfully. Granola bars are verbotten in my house as look too much like Alexs mum. The way weird thing is she doesn't always look where they look if that makes sense, if they scramble (the dogs are barking etc. ) she follows but at a delayed reaction time.

    My point exactly!

Moonlight could have a wax buildup in her ears, or mites. Has she been to the vet yet?

I had no idea about any of this Doc it's not too late for me to light my prayer candle and just did so. You are a very brave and kind person and kindness and truth WILL win out. It simply has to.
