Today, today is a melting day
A melting day, a melting day
Ice and slush all gone away
On a melting day, a melting day

Today, today is a melting day
Small snow piles have gone away
Only the big ones are here to stay
On a melting day, a melting day

Today, today is a melting day
Ground appears that was hidden away
    Not today, but yesterday
The ice on the sidewalks has gone away

Today, today is a melting day
Only the deepest snow is allowed to stay
To shine bright white on Christmas Day
Today, today is a melting day!

(Just doggerel from wandering about in far-too-warm to be winter weather this afternoon!)

It was 50-something degrees, and is still 40-something well after dark!

You know what comes after "melting day" for dog owners don't you? Poop scooping day. After weeks of freezing cold and snow, there's plenty to scoop.

Yeah, the newly revealed "treasures"! But we had only enough melting for the minor stuff, and one small patch of grass lout back, much of the actual ground is still snow-covered for now! And, by the way, the "Melting Day" can be sung to the tune of "I Saw Three Ships A'Sailing In," one of the old Christmas Carols I still find pretty silly, even now. Um, kid was born in a stable in Bethlehem, which is after all, in a country/region that is - whatever it is called in whatever century - mostly desert.

It was -24C last night. the sun came out so we're hitting-19C today and I think we'll be lucky if the high hits -15C. Going back down to -25C tonight and Christmas day we're supposed to see a bit warmer.

Merry Christmas to all the PT's no matter what your temperatures might be... Christmas will make us forget this cold.

It is very warm here in CA. It was in the mid 60s when we left our house at 430pm.
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

Well, the Carolinas, Georgia, Tennessee, the Virginias are experiencing record cold snaps. Tonight it is supposed to drop to 9 deg F in the Upstate. The wind chill could be as low as -5.

We have a two hour delay tomorrow for school. Most of our area is rural, and cars may not start the extreme cold . It's just easier to have a delay.

The Governor declared a emergency "Code Red" banning all but emergency vehicles on roads. All schools & state gov. buildings closed today.

It's -12 F and wind chill at -37. Canada can have it's weather back anytime now.
