    Macy and babies update......

Macy and the scooterbugs are doing great... I learned the one I thought was sick is not.. that is how he/she purrs.. well so I figrue.. that is how they all sound when they start purring..

Macy is looking sooo good her coat is nice and shiney now.. and not matted and dirty... and she has some meat on what used to be a half starved body... and she is not as clingy anymore either.. she used to be all over me when I would go out to the garage .... now she kind of does her own thing. .. BUT , she still LOOOOVES her scritches!!.. I can actually pick her up a little now... she is still a little unsure about it.. but we are making progress... AND I think Macy might have gotten pregnant before we got her in the gargage ... her belly is starting to hang like she is....

    here is Macy...

i'm a little worried about my progress with the babies though... i guess i figured they would be totally used to me by now... I only have three that will come near me and play.. the other three just sit away and stare at me or play with each other... way out of reach. I really don't want them to get too much older... i know it is easier for kittens to find homes...

Sharkey.. one of my solid grey boogers.. actually tried to climb up my back last night... and swatted at my hand (pretty much playfullly) when I would stick it near him... he is doing sooooooo good .. he is a CRAZY little kitty... he is going to have a GREAT purrsonality!!

    here is Sharkey...

    MORE COMING...

Here is my little PURR HEAD.. this little guy purrs alllll the time.. it doesn't matter what he is doing....

no name for him or the others yet though.... he is brave like Sharkey and comes near me to play...

and here is the third of the BRAVE kitties .......
a little fluffer nutter.. I have three fluffies... this little one came up real close and was sniffing my knee.. it's face was sooooo tiny and cute I wanted to pick it up soooooooooooooooo bad!!!!!!

Here is a fuzzy bug and my purr head ... the fuzzy bug was attacking that rope (that used to be nicely wound up) and purr head was getting a drink....

here is a fuzzy bug digging in a box... even though it looks like it is doing something crazy... it is only just being a curious digger...

and last but not least.. a POTTY pic.. these little kitters potty ALL THE TIME..

    HOPE YOU ENJOYED..

if you know anyone who would like to adopt one of these cuties please let me know.. espically Macy.. i want to make sure she gets the BEST home ever... she is the absolute sweetest kitty I have EVER met!!!!!!

    Sara,

May I make a suggestion?? It sounds to me like the kittens are a bit feral. If you can get a cage to put them in to keep them confined, you might have a chance to socialize them.

The only way you're going to be able to get them used to people is by handling them alot. As long as they are loose and running around, it's very easy for them to avoid you.

Once they get used to being handled, the rest will be easy.

What I'd do when I had feral kittens that age is keep them confined in a cage and take them out, one by one. Most feral kittens will hiss and spit at you, and play on your fear of them. I never backed down. I first began by talking softly to them without making eye contact (eye contact is a threat). Lay on the floor at their level and whisper to them. Then try, after a while, to pet them. They may cower, hiss or spit, but you need to show them you aren't afraid of them. After that, try picking them up. If it's still a little difficult, try wrapping them up in a towel with just their heads exposed. Pet them, talking softly to them. Eventually they will come around.

Good luck in your quest to find wonderful homes for them.

    hmmmmmm......

    thanks for the advice moosmom....

they lived for their first 5 weeks outside with (i assume) no human contact..

I will try and get them in their bed/box... and turn it upright so they can't get out.... If I get them in a *cage* how will Macy react...

Oh Sara what sweet little fluffies!!! If I could I would take them all. I pray they will all find wonderful home. Bless you for being their foster Meowmie!!!

I want that little fluffer nutter! What a cutie pie!

Sara, I emailed you a Word document that I got from one of the rescues I contacted when I had Eddie. It gives some good tips on placing pets, so hopefully it'll give you some ideas and help the sweeties find good homes.

PS - turns out I have 3 different email addresses for you, so if I sent it to an old one and you don't get it, let me know and I'll resend.

They are so cute. I love Sharkey. I want a gray male so badly but my husband has to a stop to my cat numbers right now.

I hope you have a great luck getting them socialized and finding homes.

Keep the pics and updates coming. I love seeing them.

I was thinking along the same lines as Moosmom. You need to start handeling them soon. The longer you wait the worse it will get. You said that they were outside with mom for about 5 weeks so my guess is that she has already instilled the feral fears.
Moosmom shared her wonderful way of handling little scared ferals so I thought I would share with you the way I did mine. I would sit on the floor and play string. I always used a long one so they felt they were a safe distance from me. Sometimes I would tie a feather on the end or a anything that kept their interest. I would throw it , drag it, wiggle it, and slowly drag it closer and closer to me. If they did get close to me the first few times I tried this I did not touch them. They began to be less afraid of being close. After awhile I would reach out and rub their back as they chased the string. I always made sure they weren't looking in the beginning. You may have to force the situation a little. You know...one runs by so you grab it, give quick chin and neck scritchies and let it go.
I would always have treat time with canned food after the playtime. If they bury their faces in canned food you can walk right up and do the lower back above the tail scratch and they love it.
You will know at what pace to move with each one. Moosmom's way sounds easier to me but this is what I did with all mine.
    Good luck!
btw/I don't think those kittens could get any cuter!!!!
I hope mama is not pregnant again!!!!!!! Poor you and Mama!
