    7.8 quake near Indonesia?

    Whoa.

    Just saw a news flash about a quake in that area...

    Maybe the world is ending after all?

    Naw, it's just a warm up for the real thing. According to the Aztecs, we have until 12/21/2012.

    One of the unreported facts about a quake is how long they last-

    I think the closest you can compare a 'normal' quake to is stand next to a railroad track and the whole train passes in about 10-20 seconds?

    Since this happened in near the ocean? That may have had something to do with the length of the quake.

    I just could not imagine being bounced around for THAT long.

    Some of the quakes there have been happening on the sea floor I think, explains the tsunami's ???

    Yeah, the quake movement displaces the water and it's on. Most of the time they will hit in areas that are either underwater or in uninhabited area-which is way better than the other option.

    With all of these quakes around, I'd rather not be living on the coast.
