I made some Valentines cookies for Gonzo a few days ago, and they turned out really yummy! They're a lot like snickerdoodles for doggies! And everything in them is stuff that's lying around your house anyway. You can cut them into heart shapes and maybe add a tinsey bit of icing and pups love them. Just, make sure you keep them in a ziplock bag and don't keep them over a week. I would suggest feeding them for just a few days, but dogs LOVE these, so it probably won't be a problem getting rid of them enjoy!
SweetHeart Cookies
* 1 cup water
* 1 cup quick oatmeal
* 1/2 stick butter
* 1/2 cup cornmeal
* 1tbsp sugar
* 1tsp salt
* 1/2 cup milk
* 1/3 cup (about 2-3 tbsp) peanut butter
* 1-2 tbsp cinnamon
* 3 cups wheat flour
* 1 egg
Glaze
* 1 egg
* 2tbsp milk
* 1 tablespoon cinnamon
Directions
* Boil water in sauce pan, then add oats and butter. Let oats soak for 10 minutes. Stir in cornmeal, sugar, salt, milk, peanut butter, cinnamon, and egg. Mix, then add flour, one cup at a time, until dough is stiff.
* Knead dough on a floured surface (heavily floured, trust me ) until smooth, about 3 minutes. Roll to 1/2" thick. Place on greased cookie sheet. Brush glaze onto dough with a pasty brush (a clean paint brush works). Cut out cookie shapes now! Bake in pre-heated 325* oven for 35-45 minutes. Cool and serve!
Gonzo loooved these, they're very soft and make good training treats too!
