    What Was Her Name?

I was at the bookstore today and happened to think of reading about a woman author that had recently died. It was in Dog General so that's why I'm posting it here. I was going to look for her book but I can't remember her name or the name of the book I wanted to read. The title was something like The Two of Us or something similar. It's supposed to be a really good dog book and frustrates me that I didn't write down her name. Thanks for your help.

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.

Hug you close and never let go.

I wish I could help, but I have never even heard of the book. If you do figure out though, let me know...I would love to read it as well.

I did buy one today, though. It's called If A Dog's Prayers Were Answered, Bones Would Rain from the Sky (deepening our relationships with dogs) by Suzanne Clothier. Here's just a bit from the first paragraph. I don't think it's all written this way but I love it.
My only mistake was licking her knee. Until that moment, they had been quite tolerant of me panting quietly under the dining room table, a good place to lie on a warm summer's evening. I was a smart dog. I knew I might have been cooler lying on the slick tile in the bathroom, or even outside, shaded by the bushes along the foundation. But I would have missed being with my family.
    See why I liked it?

I'd bet $2 (random figure ) that's who you're thinking of. She passed away within the last few years; she had lung cancer. Pack of Two is a great book.
